Parent note: There is a special "Fun Friday" activity option in the plans -- to Read to Someone over Skype, Facetime, Zoom or Hangouts (whatever works for you and your family). Please stay tuned for a longer message from me to you about how I can best help support you and your child during this time.

Good Morning Marching Marbles!

I have a greeting for you.

Go greet someone at your house! Teach them our special Friday greeting.

Today is Friday, March 27th, 2020.

It is the 123rd day of school!

Do you see anything interesting about that number?

Have a great day!

Love,

Ms. McDevitt

Daily Schedule

8:30

Read and do the Morning Message (above)

8:40

Reading Minilesson

Watch the read-aloud Bilal Cooks Daal. It is read by the author! Try the author’s challenge at the end.

One of my favorite comfort foods is oatmeal with maple syrup for breakfast.

Do you have the ingredients for your favorite comfort food at home?

If you do, ask if you can help make it tonight or this weekend!

8:50

Read to Self

You should read from your book bag for 15 minutes or more.

Give yourself two checks if you earned them!.

9:10

Sight word work

You should do 2 pages (or 20 minutes of focused work) in your sight word folder. Be sure to put the short date on the page.

Parents, students should be quite familiar with this activity. Their words should be written in lower case and spelled correctly. They have been taught that if they can’t read the word, they need to ask someone to read it to them at the beginning of the page. Some of them need reminders about this.

You Choose: Read to Someone Else, RAZ kids, or the Fun Friday Challenge

Read to Self: If you are reading to someone else, you should read aloud to them for 15 minutes or more. If you want to buddy read with them, that’s okay, but you need to EEKK and TTR! (Sit Elbow to Elbow, Knee to Knee and Take Turns Reading!)

RAZ Kids: You should listen to and read the same book. Then, listen to and read the next book in your account. You do not have to take the quiz, but you can if you want to! It will earn you more stars.

Fun Friday challenge: With an adult’s help, Skype, Facetime, Hangout or Zoom to read to someone virtually! If you do this, you might need to make sure that you read loudly and clearly and show them the pictures, like the author of Bilal Makes Daal did when she read. If you want to do this later in the day or this weekend instead of now, that’s fine!

9:45

Snack

Go outside for an exercise break!

When you finish, you can do a mindfulness activity if you want to.

10:20

Art

Miss Arista has given us Drawing Exercise #2.

If you finish your art assignment and want to share, click here for directions to share with Miss Arista. You will probably need an adult’s help.

12:15

Math

If you would like a little Quiet Time before math, check out this read aloud.

Play the math games linked on the wibki for today (under “Favorites,” click the date) and complete today’s lesson packet. It is on the top in your blue math folder. (It should say lesson 5 at the very bottom.) Put it back on the Done side when you are finished.

Wrap up: About how many paperclips long do you think your pencil is? What else could you measure with paperclips?

What are some things around the house you could measure with your BeeBot ruler?

What are some things that you would not want to measure with your BeeBot ruler? Why or why not?

Optional

Choice Time!

If you want Choice Time, go to the Wibki.

If you would like to do PE, look in your folder from Mr. Davis.

If you would like to do Music, go to Mrs. Cloutier’s Music site.

Finish up your art assignment, if you have not already finished it.

If you finish your art assignment and want to share, click here for directions to share with Miss Arista. You will probably need an adult’s help.

Closing Circle

Here is a message for you from me!

Clean up your work area.

Teach someone to do Rosebud.

Your rose is something you enjoyed doing this week.

Your bud is something you are looking forward to this weekend or next week.
