Good Morning Jaguars!

Today is Monday, May 11, 2020.  May is a great word to read because it rhymes with so many other words!

I can think of some: day, ray, and lay. How many can you think of? Can you challenge yourself to think of and write down ten words that rhyme with May? You could even have a race against someone in your family!

Have a great day!

Love,

Ms. McDevitt

Today is MAGAZINE MONDAY!

I made some videos to help you read your magazine. It is a little bit like Reading Group with me at school! Watch this video and follow the directions!

If you want to read the other two articles today, here are links that will help you read them by yourself. If you do this, you should do Read to Self, and then shorten your other Reading Workshop activities if you need to.

Where Food Grows

A Rare Rhino

Put your magazine in your Read to Self bag when you are done. Or, put it someplace safe that works for you. You might need it again later this week.

8:45

Read to Self

You should read from your book bag for 15 minutes. More is better, if you want to do more!

Give yourself two checks if you earned them!.

Math

Today, your job is to make some ten frames. We will need these ten-frames for lots of projects. You can print them out, if you have a printer, or make your own using paper (3x5 cards would also work well, if you put one ten-frame on each card).

If you choose to print and cut, click here.  When you cut them apart, it is a good idea to leave a little space around the edge so they are not too small.

If you don’t have a printer, draw, color and cut to make your ten-frames. If you have 3x5 cards, those would be perfect to use.

Watch this video to help you learn to draw a ten frame

You will need to make 12 ten frames and put ten dots in each ten frame. You will also need two blank ten frames.

That’s 12 of these:

And two of these:

Paperclip them together and save these in your math folder.
