Principal's Message

“At Johnson Elementary School we value a school community that promotes all forms of success. We prepare students for social, emotional, and academic growth by fostering collaborative and engaging learning opportunities.”
The new school year begins on Monday, August 28th.  We are so excited to have our building once again filled with the sounds of children laughing and learning.  One major change for this year is that we will begin school promptly at 7:50am, instead of 8:00am.  Therefore, children who arrive after 7:50 will be marked tardy. The main reason for this change is to give us ten more minutes of instructional time.  As you know, last year we implemented a new math program called Bridges. This program requires a bit more time each day to cover the material.  In addition, this year we are happy to be offering Spanish instruction to all students in grades K-6.

The other major change is that this year, breakfast will be served in the classroom instead of the cafeteria.  In the past, many students have skipped breakfast to go to their classroom to socialize with friends or connect with teachers.  Now, students will not have to make a choice between eating and being in class in the morning. All students will report to their homeroom classes upon entering the building.

We have many new staff members this year.  There will be a chance to meet them on Friday, August 25th at 2:30pm.  During our in-service week from 8/21-8/25, I will post a picture of the new staff and share a bio of each new team member.  Stay tuned.
