My name is Elizabeth Cass and I have been at Johnson Elementary School since 2008. I currently hold my general education license K-6 and my Special Educators license K- 21 yrs. I have a Masters in Education from Johnson State College and continue to educate myself through classes that have most recently been focusing on brain research, poverty, and math. I began my teaching career at Johnson as a 1st and 6th grade General Educator in Language Arts and Math. I then made the leap into Special Education, where I worked over the past 6 years at every grade level. My work as a special educator has included doing small group and 1:1 instruction, but also had a large focus on introducing the concept of co-teaching into the JES community. Through co-teaching, I have taught alongside other teachers in the general education classroom to deliver high quality language arts and math instruction at the 6th, 5th, and 3rd grade level. I grew up in Westchester, NY with two parents as teachers. I am so excited to start this new position at JES, as I watched and learned from my father growing up, who was a math enrichment teacher for 20 years! I currently live in Morrisville with my husband, two crazy dogs, and new baby boy. I enjoy hiking, playing soccer, reading, and cooking (none of which I do much of with the new baby!). |
