Wibki: all our webpages in one place!

Good Morning Marching Marbles!

Today is Tuesday, March 24th, 2020.

It is the 120th day of school!

Do you remember what we use to help us keep track of websites? It has a funny name! It starts with the letter w.

Can you find the link on this page?

Have a great day!

Love,

Ms. McDevitt

Daily Schedule

8:30

Read the Morning Message (above)

8:40

Read to Self

You should read from your book bag for 15 minutes or more.

Give yourself two checks if you earned them!.

9:00

Sight word work

You should do 2 pages (or 20 minutes of focused work) in your sight word folder. Be sure to put the short date on the page.

Parents, students should be quite familiar with this activity. Their words should be written in lower case and spelled correctly. They have been taught that if they can’t read the word, they need to ask someone to read it to them at the beginning of the page. Some of them need reminders about this.

You Choose: Read to Someone Else or RAZ kids

If you are reading to someone else, you should read aloud to them for 15 minutes or more. If you want to buddy read with them, that’s okay, but you need to EEKK and TTR! (Sit Elbow to Elbow, Knee to Knee and Take Turns Reading!)

If you are doing RAZ Kids, you should listen to and read the same book. Then, listen to and read the next book in your account. You do not have to take the quiz, but you can if you want to! It will earn you more stars.

Parents, if your child has questions in their quiz that require typed answers, he or she should skip that question. They should only be doing the multiple choice questions.

9:40

Snack

Go outside for an exercise break!

10:20

Word work

Sort your new sort.

There are two oddballs.

Challenge for early finishers: In your bookbag or from other places around your house, find 5 or words. Write them on a post-it if you think they could go into this sort. We’ll talk about them when I call you!

How to sort your sort (I didn’t make this video, but I think the overview it provides may be helpful for parents.)

10:40

Handwriting

Work in your letter formation book for 20 minutes. If you do not have a letter formation book, you should do RAZ Kids, Read to Self, or do something from the Library folder from Mrs. Stender in your box.

Parents, if you’re confused about the lines, here’s a humorous helpful video.

Here’s a less funny video that is also helpful.

Parents, the dot on the page indicates where the letter should start. Letters are formed from the top. Please keep an eye out during this activity!

12:15

Math

Play the math games linked on the wibki for today (under “Favorites,” click the date) and complete today’s lesson packet. It is on the top in your blue math folder. (It should say lesson 2 at the very bottom.) Put it back on the Done side when you are finished.

Optional

Choice Time!

Today would normally be a day with PE and Music.

There is a folder in your bin from Mr. Davis. You could do something from there if you would like.

If you would like to do Music, go to Mrs. Cloutier’s Music site. She is the Music teacher at Cambridge Elementary School. She will teach you to play Music Bingo! (You will need to be able to print a Music Bingo Card.)

You can be finished for the day if you want.

If you want to have Choice Time, then go to the wibki. Under “Favorites” click on “Enrichment.” Those are all interesting things you might like to try for Choice! Pick one or two to try today.

1:00

Closing Circle

Did the second day of remote learning feel easier than the first?

What went well?

What was hard for you?

Is there anything you need Ms. McDevitt’s help with? Make a list so you remember!
